The Week That Was: Bonus Rage & a Star's Tragic Death

Under intense pressure, the head of bailed-out insurance giant AIG, Edward Liddy, declared Wednesday that some of the firm's executives have begun returning all or part of bonuses totaling $165 million. The attorney general of Connecticut said Saturday that AIG paid $53 million more in bonuses than previously reported, totaling $218 million. Liddy's original stance that the bonuses should be honored, no matter how distasteful, drew sharp comments from both parties.
