Propark Alerts of Changes in New Haven

Propark Inc., a parking services management company, has filed a notice with the state Department of Labor about changes coming to the company, but said they do not plan to eliminate or cut jobs in New Haven.

The WARN report says the company plans to lay off 186 employees in New Haven effective January 2013, but Dennis Safford, corporate director of marketing, said the company is "transitioning" its employment model in New Haven and is communicating directly with the staff.

"When all team members have been reached and are fully informed of what that process entails, we will be available to discuss the transition further," Safford said in an e-mail.

"Propark has no plans to eliminate or reduce positions in New Haven. The implementation of a new method of employing associates triggered the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act employer requirement to provide notification to staff 60 calendar days in advance of possible layoffs," he wrote.

Propark has 31 sites in New Haven, according to its Web site. The state Department of Labor Web site does not indicate which sites will be affected.

The state received the notice on Nov. 19, two days before Thanksgiving.
