The tourists are not heading to the state’s tourist areas as they have in past summers and casino resorts, including Mohegan Sun, are looking for ways to attract visitors.
So, they are offering you deals to lay down your cash.
Mohegan Sun is offering seven packages this summer, rooms from $99 up to $239 a person, food and beverage credits and food specials. The casino is also offering “Two For Tuesdays,” where you can earn double points when you play slots on Tuesdays until Sept. 1. You’ll also get two for one specials when you dine or buy stuff.
There are also deal packages on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
“We realize what the economic times are like now and are aware guests and potential customers need value-created offers, rather than discount everything. There are myriad things we’ve done,” Mitchell Etess, CEO and president of Mohegan Sun, told the Norwich Bulletin. “We call it the stimulus recovery.”
Mohegan's not the only place doing this.
“The summer is usually a good time to hold pat. But this year, we are seeing discounts as part of the picture,” said Randy Fiveash, tourism director for the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism.
