WWE to Rumble With Bysiewicz By Giving Out Gear at Polls

WWE chairman Vince McMahon won round one in a battle to allow people to wear WWE gear to the polls. Now, he’s launching round two and actually plans to hand some paraphernalia out at the polls.

Actually, they will be handing it out more than 75 feet away. “out of respect for voters from all political parties,” according to a news release from the WWE.

Linda McMahon, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Connecticut, is the former CEO of WWE. She and her husband, Vince McMahon, founded the company.

Last week, Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz told elections officials that it was up their discretion to ask people to cover up if they were wearing anything WWE-related in that buffer zone because it could be considered political advertising for Linda McMahon.

The WWE sued and a judge ruled on Wednesday that these rules did not apply to WWE merchandise since they do not have a political message.

“I can’t think of a better way for WWE fans to celebrate their constitutional rights and freedom of expression while voting than to proudly wear the WWE merchandise that Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz attempted to prohibit from the polls,” Vince McMahon, Chairman and CEO, World Wrestling Entertainment, said.
