Woman Used As Jamie Lynn Spears ‘Decoy’ Demands $2 Million From Police

Updated 7:51 PM EDT, Mon, Jan 5, 2009

A woman who police used as a decoy for Jamie Lynn Spears at Los Angeles International Airport in September is now demanding airport police pay her $2 million, or she will sue.

A lawyer for Adessa Eskeridge has filed a claim for damages against the LAX Police Department, suggesting that the woman was used as a “decoy” for the famous teenager in September 2008 without her consent.

Eskeridge’s attorney, R.J. Molligan claims Eskeridge was “not given any details as to the nature of the task or of the potential danger involved. She simply followed the instructions of the police as most good citizens would do.”

In her filing, Molligan alleges that LAX police “did not want to subject Ms. Spears to the pushing, shoving, humiliation and possible physical injury that come with the paparazzi, but instead decided that Ms. Eskeridge was not important enough to give the same protections to.”

The lawyer claims her client was “never informed that upon deplaning, she would be mobbed by the paparazzi, that she would be in fear of her well-being, that her picture would be taken, [and] that video of her would be all over the Internet.”

Molligan alleges that Eskeridge was “deceived and manipulated” by the LAX Police. She also claims that her client “suffered and continues to suffer great humiliation” as a result of the incident.

In her statement, Molligan adds that the incident of last September counts as a “false arrest.”

Molligan notes that her client is “willing to consider a reasonable and fair settlement that fully compensates her for the humiliation, fear and harassment that she has been subjected [to] at the hands of LAX-PD.”

The reasonable settlement Molligan is requesting for her client is $2 million.

If this situation is not resolved, Molligan says Eskeridge will file suit against the agency.

When contacted by Access Hollywood, a spokesperson for the LAX Police Department could not comment on the Eskeridge case because of an ongoing investigation.

  • Klondike Monday, Jan 5 at 8:08 PM FLAG COMMENT I am sure she'll get some settlement, unfortunately we the taxpayers will foot the bill. I haven't a clue as to why LAX-PD even thought anyone cared that Jamie Lynn was on the plane and needed a decoy to begin with. I assume they figured it was a good exercise for them, I guess using an employee with blond hair would have made too much sense and required a thought process which they apparently lacked.
