What if you could turn the state's food-waste into energy? Chestnut Hill BioEnergy wants to find out.
The Massachusetts company says it can turn waste from grocery stores, cafeterias and restaurants into biofuel -- all without emitting odor in the atmosphere.
The company has its sights set on a former factory in Waterbury with plans to convert it into what it claims would be the country's largest food-waste-to-energy plant. From there, they could produce electricity for 10,000 homes and keep all that waste from landfills.
All they need is approval from state and local officials, before some 625 tons of garbage a day could be rolling in.
