Beavers Cause Big Dam Problem in Beacon Falls

A scoreboard shows the town losing a beaver battle

Beavers are considered some of the greatest engineers in the world.  And if you check the scoreboard in Beacon Falls, the beavers are winning, 27 to 1. Possibly by more at this point.

There's a large card on a utility pole by a small pond inside the Pinesbridge Commerce Park, the Waterbury Republican-American reports

Large block letters proclaim the area "Home of the Busy Beavers."

The creatures have been causing problems for two years in town, the Rep-Am reports, clogging drainage pipes and flooding the road, potentially creating icy conditions in winter.

And it's adding work for the highway department. Road foreman Eddie Bea's crew has the unfortunate job of dismantling the dam.

The town also brings in a trapper who is certified by the Department of Environmental Protection.

As for who put up the sign? No one knows.
