Milford police officer Jason Anderson was arraigned on Tuesday in Derby Superior Court in connection with the fatal crash that killed two teens and will be back in court on Dec. 8. He will also remain suspended with pay until the police commission and police chief finish their internal investigation on June 13.

According to the union contract, the police chief is only able to suspend a police officer for 15 days, which is why the commission needed to vote on whether to lengthen the suspension.

Police Chief Keith Mello said that the commission will meet again on Dec. 7 to review the case. He must first receive and review the state police report before he is able to conclude the internal investigation.

The Chief released this statement:

"During the Special Meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners, the board voted to continue the suspension of Jason Anderson, pending the outcome of the Internal Affairs Investigation and the proffer of administrative charges. The board will review the status of Jason Anderson's suspension at a Special Meeting of the Board of Police Commissioner's meeting on December 7th. Jason Anderson will remain on suspension with pay until the matter is reviewed again on December 7th".

Newly released video from Officer Richard Pisani's cruiser shows Anderson passing him on Boston Post Road at nearly 90 miles an hour. The stretch of road is marked with a 40 mph speed limit. It shows his car colliding with another, killing 19 year olds Ashlie Krakowski and David Servin.

"I think he should be fired right now," Dave Lim, of West Haven, said. "I mean, what he did was kind of messed up."

The police union representative would not comment on the commission's decision. Calls to Anderson's criminal attorney and the attorney's from the two families have not yet been returned.

Anderson has been charged with manslaughter and reckless driving charges.
