THE DAY

A week ago, John McCabe bought a boat.  Early Friday morning, there was an explosion and the boat, with McCabe narrowly escaping flames that reached 10 to 15 feet into the sky, according The Day.

A shipyard mechanic at the Noank Shipyard tells the paper that the boat went up in flames shortly before 7:30 a.m..  Rich Magowan said McCabe was able to get off the boat, but apparently suffered facial injuries.

He is being treated by doctors at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

Firefighters put out the flames but the boat is destroyed.
