No Pizza At East Hartford "Hut"

Car slams into Pizza Hut causing extensive damage

Updated 10:58 AM EDT, Sat, Dec 26, 2009

A woman suffered minor injuries after she drove her car into an East Hartford Pizza Hut early Christmas morning.

Police said the car smashed through the front window of the newly renovated building at 300 Silver Lane around 12:45 a.m, and ended up completely inside the dining room.

The driver claimed someone had cut her off causing her to lose control and crash.

The building is so badly damaged the fire department had to put up supports to secure the building.  The building inspector expects it to be closed for a long time.

The building had burned down a few years ago and was recently renovated.

Police said charges against the driver are pending.  Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
