Dad Accused of Hitting Son in Head With Shovel

Police thought they were going to a home in the posh town of New Canaan to help a man who fell and injured his head.

Instead, police are investigating the man’s father, who’s accused of hitting him in the head with a snow shovel.

The 911 call from the million-dollar home on Oenoke Ridge Road came at 8:25 a.m. and the person just said they needed an ambulance and hung up, police said.

When police called, someone said his brother slipped and fell on the ice and had a head injury.

But, when police went to the house, they learned that there was a family dispute, police said. The 23-year-old man was hit in the head with a snow shovel and police suspected his father, Kenneth Klenk, caused the injury.

Klenk was not at the scene when police arrived, but arrived a few minutes later and was arrested and taken into custody.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Stamford Hospital.

He was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment.

His bond was set at $25,000 and Klenk is due in Norwalk Superior Court on Jan. 18.
