Dairy Queen's Bizarre Christmas Promotion

You've no doubt heard the commercial "What would you do for a Klondike Bar?" Well, Dairy Queen is asking you what would you do for a free Blizzard on Christmas Eve.

The chain is offering the frozen treat on Dec. 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., but there's a catch. To get the free Reindeer Bites Blizzard, you have to bring a real, living, breathing reindeer to a participating Dairy Queen or DQ Grill & Chill restaurant. There are several locations across Connecticut.

"We've put out the call for fans to stop by with their reindeer to fuel up before the big night," Michael Keller, American Dairy Queen Corporation chief brand officer, said. "We're sure Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and even Rudolph are going to want to get in on this deal."

Jeremy Thompson, a manager at the DQ Grill and Chill on Shunpike Road in Cromwell, said the store will be happy to honor the promotion if someone can bring a reindeer by the store Christmas Eve.

The question for Blizzard fans in Connecticut is where to find a reindeer?

Your best bet might be Carl Bozenski's Christmas Village in Torrington. The spectacle is opened for the 63rd straight year, and has four live reindeer as an attraction.

It might take a little convincing to get them to allow you to borrow the animals on Christmas Eve.
