Dr. William Petit was in court on Tuesday and expressed disgust with the delays in Stephen Haye's trial.
Hayes is one of two suspects in the invasion of the Cheshire home that killed his wife and two daughters.
Jury selection has been on hold since last month and is scheduled to resume on March 2.
The judge set the date after Hayes' attorney, Thomas Ullman, said the lights in Hayes' cell are on 24 hours a day and he has to eat with his hands because officials won't give him utensils.
“Somehow, it’s OK for the defendant to bind us, rape us, torture us and set the place on fire, but they can’t be in a cell with the lights on,” Petit said. “It is a little difficult to process.”
Jury selection in the case has been on hold since last month, when guards found Hayes unconscious in his cell from overdosing on prescription drugs.
