Enjoying the Final Days of Summer

People all across Connecticut enjoyed the long Labor Day weekend.

They relaxed, they played, and they enjoyed a beautiful Monday. Dozens of people headed over to Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain to soak up those few last hours of daylight.

"It's beautiful. This is a nice day for a good game of soccer," said Dwight Williams of Newington.

Others decided to head out of town for the long weekend and took a trip up the coastline to neighboring states.

"We were in Martha's Vineyard. We had a great time, we went to the beach, we swam, it was great. It wasn't even that busy there," said Trisha Capone of Wilton.

But it was busy coming back. Cars inched along I-95 South in Westbrook, Clinton and Madison because everyone was coming back home from their mini-vacations.

"We were actually in Providence and it was really, really slow come back. It was really hard getting back, it took us like two hours," said Grace Patrick of Milford.

"It was ok in the beginning and then once we hit Connecticut it was traffic bumper to bumper," added her friend, Kyle Nolan of Milford.

Not everyone got to get away this holiday weekend. Some people spent Labor Day working. The folks at Max Burger in West Hartford served up food. They say the restaurant is usually busier on holidays because more people treat themselves to dinner.

"It's not a major holiday, and we're a new restaurant so we're pretty busy, so compared to people who don't even have jobs, its not that bad," said Avielle Rosenberg, a server at the restaurant.

Futtner Family Farm was also open for business. They were ready to serve customers who stopped by to stock up.

"We're catching people who want tomatoes, watermelons, corn, cucumbers all kinds of fruits and vegetables," said Honora Futtner.

They say when you work on a farm, you have to take advantage of every day, even if it's Labor Day.
