Lassie, Chloe and Air Bud eat your heart out. You all had your moment on the big screen but now Connecticut pets get their shining moment.

The non-profit group Soul-Friends is hosting the state's first pet-themed film festival. Soul-Friends was created in 2003 and has provided therapeutic visits to more than 3,000 children across the state.

They requested short films, five to 10 minutes, from animal lovers and have been reviewing them over the past few weeks. The top six submissions will be shown on the big screen at Showcase Cinemas on Universal Drive in North Haven on Saturday, Nov. 21.

The reason for the event is "to show the entire state of Connecticut the healing power of animals and that life is more enriching interacting with a pet."

The event runs for two hours, from 10 a.m. to noon, so grab your best animal print coat and save me seat.
