Patrick Moulton of Providence, R.I. defended his title at the 16th annual ING Hartford Marathon Saturday morning finishing the race in 2 hours, 25 minutes, 21 seconds.
Moulton will take home $6,000.
It is the 27-year-old's third marathon win. After winning at Hartford last year, Moulton won the SunTrust National Marathon in Washington, D.C. in March, breaking the course record according to The Associated Press.
More than 8,000 runners gathered at Bushnell Park for the Hartford Marathon, the city's largest sporting event.
The full marathon took runners through the capital city, across the Connecticut River into East Hartford, through parts of South Windsor and ended back at Bushnell Park's Soldiers and Sailors Arch.
Runners had the opportunity to raise money for one or more of two dozen local charities that participated.
