U.S. marshals took the center for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers into custody on sexual assault charges after a game in Bridgeport on Wednesday.
A U.S. marshals task force arrested Robert Hughes, 21, who plays of the American Hockey League, after his team’s 4-2 loss to the Adirondack Phantoms at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
Hughes, a Canadian citizen from Richmond Hill, Ontario, was arrested on a warrant out of Bethlehem, N.Y., on charges of first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree criminal sexual act.
Authorities are not releasing details of the allegations. Police say Hughes was held in lieu of $100,000 bail until New York authorities could pick him up. Hughes' phone number was not available, and it wasn't clear if he has a lawyer.
