Joe Lieberman’s mad.  Again.

This time, he thinks the administration’s decision to try Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Gitmo detainees is just plain wrong.

In a statement released by his office, the state’s junior senator said:

“It is inconceivable that we would bring these alleged terrorists back to New York for trial, to the scene of the carnage they created eight years ago, and give them a platform to mock the suffering of their victims and the victims’ families, and rally their followers to continue waging jihad against America.”

They “are war criminals, not common criminals,” said Lieberman.  What’s more, he said, they are not American citizens and are not entitled to the same constitutional rights citizens have in federal courts.

Lieberman is also the Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
