Court Documents Reveal More Details of Waterbury Murder

Francisco Cruz admitted to police that he killed Chloe Ottman after she refused to have sex with him because she had a boyfriend, according to court documents.
Ottman’s body was found on Saturday, the day after the 16-year-old’s family reported her missing.
Cruz, 19, of Waterbury, and Ottman had been friends for two years and were together on Thursday night and walked to Holy Land. Ottman’s family reported her missing on Friday night
At first, Cruz denied having anything to do Ottman’s death, and participated as friends searched for the missing teen, police said.
On Saturday, he confessed to the murder and led investigators to her body late that afternoon, police said. It was near Holy Land USA, an 18-acre religious attraction on a hillside overlooking Waterbury, police said.
Cruz has been charged with Ottman’s murder. He was arraigned on Monday and court documents reveal graphic and disturbing details about the crime and sexual assault, including that Ottman was stabbed in the neck and her body and belongings were thrown into the woods.
The Waterbury man is being held on $5 million bond.
On Sunday night, Ottman’s friends gathered at the city landmark, sobbed, shared stories and mourned the teen’s death together.
Cruz was been charged with capital felony, murder, sexual assault and strangulation.
Chloe would have been a junior at Crosby High School this fall. Counselors will be available at the school on Wednesday morning.
