West Hartford police now have six people in custody after a shooting at a baby shower. Donald Parker Jr., 31, Donna Parker, 32, and Jose Paulino, 58, face charges for lying to police. Paulino allegedly owned the handgun used in the shooting and was charged with failure to report a stolen firearm.
According to investigators, Donna Parker drove two of the shooting victims to the hospital and lied in a written statement about how she found them.
Jose Rosa, Orlando Correa and Julio Bonilla of Hartford are already behind bars. Correa, 20, and Bonilla, 19, were charged in November with attempted murder, assault, risk of injury to a minor, interfering with police and weapons crimes. Police say they arrested the two after DNA tests linked them to guns recovered at the shootout.
In the October 18 incident, four people were injured after a fight inside a rented hall on Oakwood Avenue ended in gun violence. Dozens of adults and children were inside at the time. Police believe it all started when several women got into an argument, which led to the men getting involved and then shots were fired.
