Second Arrest Made in Vigil Shooting

As a group gathered on July 1 at an East Hartford apartment building to remember William Castillo, gunfire erupted again and three more people were shot. One of the victims was killed, and it was all over a dog, police said.
Police have arrested two people in connection with the shooting. The second suspect was arrested Thursday.
The vigil was held for William Castillo, 35, who was found on the kitchen floor of an apartment at 269 Main St. on the afternoon of June 30. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital.
The group met around 9:45 p.m. the next night to hold a candlelight vigil in his memory when a fight broke out. It quickly escalated into gunfire.
The argument, police said, was over a dog. It is not believed to be retaliation for Castillo’s shooting.
When police arrived, they found two victims at the scene. One of them, Brian Rivera, died.
The third person was in a car on the access road to Rentschler Field. Police found the victim after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. When officers arrived, they found the driver of the car was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
East Hartford police arrested Anthony Williams, 32, of Hartford. He was charged with criminal attempt to murder, first-degree conspiracy to assault, risk of injury and reckless endangerment.
On Thursday, police arrested Tyshawn Case, 30, of Manchester. He is charged with the murder and bond was set at $1.5 million. He will be arraigned Thursday in Manchester Superior Court.
His bond set a $2.5 million and he will be arraigned in Manchester Superior Court Thursday morning.
No arrests have been in the shooting of Castillo, a well-known sneaker salesman who made sales from his home and car.
Police are continuing to investigate.
