A pit bull on a rampage bit a mom, her 4-year-old son and tipped over the stroller her 1-year-old daughter was in Tuesday morning in Stamford. That was all after the dog attacked another dog out for a walk with its owner, police said.

The dog bit the 26-year-old mother's right arm several times, police said before attacking the boy and knocking over the girl, police said.

A city employee, who the Stamford Advocate reports was picking up recycling, ran to the family's aid and got help from other people to muzzle the out-of-control animal and hold it until animal control officers arrived.

Before rushing to the family’s aid, the same city worker helped another woman get the pit bull away from her dog, which was bitten.

Emergency medical workers treated the two children at the scene and brought the woman to Stamford Hospital.

What authorities plan to do with the pit bull is not clear.
