Just hours after a bank was robbed on Monday, New Britain Police said they have the suspect in custody.
Police arrested Russell Jones, 53, of New Britain, at 3:50 p.m. and charged him with robbery and larceny. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Around noon, Jones walked into the Stop & Shop at 677 West Main St. and approached the teller at the People's Bank branch, police said. He handed the teller a note demanding money. No weapon was shown.
Jones left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in a dark-colored 2005 for 2006 Dodge Dakota SLT.
Jones has also been identified as the suspect in two other New Britain bank robberies that occurred on Nov. 20. Police said arrest warrants will be sought for Jones in connection with those incidents.
Police have impounded Jones' vehicle, a maroon Dodge Dakota.
