Just hours after a bank was robbed on Monday, New Britain Police said they have the suspect in custody.

Police arrested Russell Jones, 53, of New Britain, at 3:50 p.m. and charged him with robbery and larceny.  He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Around noon, Jones walked into the Stop & Shop at 677 West Main St. and approached the teller at the People's Bank branch, police said. He handed the teller a note demanding money. No weapon was shown.

Jones left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in a dark-colored 2005 for 2006 Dodge Dakota SLT.
