Power Outages Close Several Businesses Saturday

The Department of Motor Vehicles office in Wethersfield will be closed Saturday because the facility is without power, according to a spokesman.

Customers are asked to use the DMV offices in Enfield and New Britain.

Employees of the Wethersfield DMV office should call their supervisors for further instructions. 

Anyone who has a license exam scheduled Saturday at the Wethersfield DMV should call 860-263-5700 to reschedule.

A spokeswoman for the Westfarms Mall says the facility is will open at 2:00 p.m. Saturday.  A power outage delayed the mall's opening by four hours.  

Connecticut Light & Power is reporting around 19,000 customers are without power Saturday as of 2:00 p.m. with the outages concentrated in Farmington, Wethersfield, West Hartford, Rocky Hill, Newington, and Marlborough.  There is no estimated time for restoration yet, according to a spokesman.  

CL&P has called in help from utility crews in Western Massachusetts, the Boston area and New Hampshire to clear debris and restore power.
