Connecticut universities are honoring veterans and working to preserve their histories.

The University of Connecticut honors our nation's heroes through an online Roll of Honor. The Web site memorializes UConn alumni who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

The Roll of Honor includes brief biographies of alumni who were killed, from the Spanish American War through Iraq.

The campus Ultimate Sacrifice Memorial was dedicated as part of Veteran’s Day 2008. It's a 10-foot by 5-foot brick wall with a cutout in which hangs an enlarged version of the headstones at Arlington National Cemetery. It  stands on a granite base.

It’s located adjacent to the Wilbur Cross Building on the University's Storrs campus. Both the memorial and the roll are gifts of the Alumni Association to the University.

Central Connecticut State University has been working with the Library of Congress since 2005 on the veterans history project to preserve the oral histories of our country's veterans. CCSU students and volunteers have interviewed veterans of wars from World War I on.
