Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. That seems to be the approach East Haven High School is taking with at least two student athletes suspended for violating the school's policy regarding alcohol and athletics.

The two football players have been suspended along with five members of the girls soccer team, the New Haven Register reports. But it's a second strike against the two football players. Both were suspended earlier this year after being ticketed and accused of underage drinking at a September party. The boys had initially been suspended for the season, but were reinstated after parents complained the punishment was too severe.

The school learned about the latest infraction, a Halloween party where the students were in the vicinity of alcohol, the paper reports.

“We heard about it,” Athletic Director Mike Marone told the paper. “So those two football players, they’re repeat offenders. They’re gone for the season.”

The five soccer players have been suspended for three games. None of the students was ticketed by police for the Halloween party, but the school says they all violated school policy, which bars student athletes from being under the influence of alcohol, in possession of it or in the presence of it.
