Alec Baldwin: “I'd Love to Run Against Joe Lieberman”

Al Franken’s a Senator, so why not Alec Baldwin?

The leading man on NBC’s hit show “30 Rock”  has mentioned possibly giving up the screen for public office, now we know who he’d like to run against -- Connecticut’s party-switching Joe Lieberman

Playboy interviewed him about the possibility of running and it’s out in the July/August issue.

He said, “the desire is there,” and it seems that a law firm from Ohio contacted him about moving there and running for governor.

He sort of ducked the question on whether he could move to Ohio. But, he could see himself in Connecticut or New York and with that statement, made Connecticut’s already murky political landscape even more interesting.

“I have sometimes thought I could move to New Jersey or Connecticut and run. I'd love to run against Joe Lieberman. I have no use for him,” Baldwin said, according to the Huffington Post.

“But it’s all fantasy. I’m a carry-me-out-in-a-box New Yorker. Here, anything can happen. Who thought Eliot Spitzer would go down the way he did? Senator Hillary Clinton left to serve as secretary of state. Two of the biggest forces gone.”

But, Baldwin acknowledges that the campaign could be pretty messy.

“I'm often asked if I think about going into politics. If I do, these guys will have a field day. I've given them so much crap to use against me,” Baldwin said. “I'm thinking, If I run for political office, they'll have a forest of material to kill me with.”
