There’s a whole lot of drama and controversy stirring up in Stamford. Starting the first week in August, three NBC Universal talk shows will be taped at the Rich Forum.

Filming for "The Jerry Springer Show," "Maury," and "The Steve Wilkos Show" will get underway. Tickets are already being raffled off and now comes the task of interviewing job candidates and beefing up the staff.

"I'm very excited. I think it's going to be good for the shows,” said host Steve Wilkos.

According to the Advocate, the Stamford Center for the Arts agreed to lease the 42,000-square foot theater to NBC for two years, with options to renew. The $1.3 million deal is expected to bring up to 200 production jobs to the city and infrastructure investment of more than $3 million.

Before now, Maury Povich taped his shows in New York where he lives. Now he’ll commute to work. As for Jerry Springer, he typically taped in Chicago and it does not appear he will relocate to Connecticut. However, Steve Wilkos will become a native of Connecticut and has moved his family here. Wilkos owes his success to Springer, having rose to fame after appearing as a security guard on his show.

Inside the Rich Forum, most of the 750 seats had been removed to make space for a live studio audience. Considering three different shows will be taped in the same auditorium, NBC is building rotating sets.

Tickets to sit in the audience are free. Guests on the show will stay at hotels in Stamford.  Typically the shows producers receive thousands of calls a week from potential guests who are eager to confess their bizarre stories.

Aside from NBC, other media companies in Stamford include the World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. and Comcast Corp.'s Versus sports channel.
