The state has confirmed 10 new cases of novel H1N1 flu, or swine flu.

The positive cases include six Fairfield residents as well as residents of North Granby, Wethersfield and Glastonbury

The Public Health Laboratory in Massachusetts also received a case on a Manchester resident who was treated in that state.

All of the individuals are recovering and did not require hospitalization.

The state has had 14 cases in total.

“As we have said, we expect to receive additional cases of H1N1 flu in Connecticut and across the country,” Gov. M. Jodi Rell said. “The good news is that the illnesses we are seeing are relatively mild and do not require hospitalization.”

The state Department of Public Health is monitoring for additional cases, Rell said.

To prevent getting the flu or spreading it, stay home from work or school if you are sick, wash your hands frequently, and cough or sneezing into your sleeve or a tissue, state officials said.

Rell made the announcement Friday and said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed the new cases.
