A man crashed into a Stafford Springs tattoo studio just before 7 a.m. Monday, and firefighters believe a seizure caused the crash.

The driver, a man in his mid 30s, was pulling out of Willington Street when it seems he suffered a seizure and just drove straight the Full Sail tattoo studio into the building, according to the fire department.

Tim Sullivan, who owns the tattoo studio, said he always feared something like this would happen because his shop is located on busy East Main Street, at the bottom of a hill.

But what really shocked him was that the truck belongs to one of his regular customers.

The man comes in two or three times a month, he said.

“Considering the traffic that goes by here, it's kind of ironic that it was a good friend of mine that did it," Sullivan said.

Deborah Malasky lives above the tattoo studio and was watching news when the crash happened.

“I heard a very loud crash. I was sitting drinking coffee, watching Channel 30, and all of a sudden the whole building just shook," she said.

Malasky ran down the stairs from her apartment and found a truck through the window and debris everywhere.

As for how much damage the crash did, it's just to early to know.

A structural engineer will take a look at the building and then they can start assessing how much damage was done.
