Man Found Shot in Chest in Parked Car in Hartford

A 24-year-old man was critically injured in one of two overnight shootings in Hartford early Saturday morning.

Police were called to 160 Homestead Ave. at about 3:52 a.m. after a shooting outside the home.

Police found a man in a parked car with gunshot wounds to the chest.

He was transported to St. Francis and is in critical but stable condition.

Police haven't been able to talk to him yet because he's still recovering from surgery. It's unknown what led up to the shooting.

There was a party happening near the shooting, but people who spoke to NBC Connecticut as they came out of the party said they didn't hear gunfire. It's unclear whether the victim and shooter were at the party.

Earlier in the morning, police responded at 2:42 a.m. to the area of 892 Garden Street after receiving reports of shots fired. St. Francis Hospital treated a man who suffered a gunshot wound to his left pinky toe. A bullet also grazed the man's thigh. He told police he was walking through the 383 Barbour Street parking lot, which is behind the original address police responded to, and a group of men told him to leave before one pulled a gun out and shot him, police said.

Both shootings happened outside, but police dont' believe they were connected.

An ambulance transported one person to the hospital. The condition of the individual is unknown.

Police have been canvassing the area and knocking on doors to talk to neighbors as they investigate what happened.

A block of Homestead Avenue was closed at Edgewood Street as police investigated.

Police ask anyone who witnessed what happened or who has information to contact the Hartford Police Department.

No suspects have been identified at this time and no arrests have been made.
