Woman Hit and Killed in Brookfield Accident

A 31-year-old woman who was involved in a minor accident was hit and killed by another vehicle while she was exchanging information along the side of the road in Brookfield on Monday.

According to police, Erin Morrarty, of New Milford, sideswiped two vehicles that had been in an earlier fender bender near 238 Whisconier Road around 8 a.m.  She pulled over to exchange information with the other drivers, police said.

Morrarty was standing near the left rear of the second car when a Jeep Cherokee collided with the car, pinning Morrarty between the two vehicles, according to police.

She was rushed to Danbury Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Whisconier Road (Route 25) was closed until 12:30 p.m. while police investigated.

Authorities believe sun glare may have affected visibility for southbound drivers along Whisconier Road at the time of the accidents.
