The restaurant Bread & Water in Middletown will be closed for a few weeks after a fire Saturday.
Firefighters responded to 51 Warwick St. Saturday afternoon after kitchen staff noticed fire and called for help.
Deputy Fire Chief Albert Leary said that the owner of the restaurant was taken to the hospital because he was "experiencing difficulty" but did not elaborate on his condition.
The fire started on the second floor in the walls, fire officials said. The upper level of the building contains apartments, but the tenants were not home at the time.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
