Police Arrest Suspect in Bridgeport's 11th Homicide of Year

Police have arrested the person they say is responsible for the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Karlhenry Gay of Brooklyn in Bridgeport's 11th homicide of the year.

Police have arrested Luis Rivera, 27, of Bridgeport, in connection with the shooting. Rivera was arrested late Tuesday afternoon on Laberton Street in New Haven, police said.

He's charged with murder and criminal possession of a firearm.

Police said Gay was shot and killed in the area of Sedgewick Street and North Avenue just after 3 a.m. Sunday. Officers arrived at the scene to find him lying outside the restaurant Main Port Fish & Chips. Police said he had been shot once in the head.

Gay was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Police said Gay was involved in an altercation with several other people outside the restaurant before he was shot.

Rivera is being held on a $1 million bond.
