State Police intercepted a $6 million cocaine delivery on Wednesday, one of the largest drug busts in state history, police said.
Narcotics detectives developed leads on Monday that a delivery service was making a drug delivery in Windsor Locks and applied for a search and seizure warrant. The box was so large, police needed a forklift to move it, police said.
Before the package was picked up, police set up surveillance and waited.
When Edwin Olivo, 37, of Bronx, New York, arrived to claim the delivery at noon on Wednesday, police swarmed in and arrested him.
Inside the package, police found 102 kilos, or about 225 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated value of $6 million.
Police would not release the name of the delivery service, but FedEx, UPS, and the U.S. Postal Service have delivery facilities at the Bradley Airport in Windsor Locks.
The cocaine originated outside the U.S., but arrived in Connecticut by ground transportation, according to police.

Olivo was being held on $2 million bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Enfield Superior Court.
