Partially Buried Body Found in Rocky Hill

State and Rocky Hill police are investigating after what appears to be human body was found in a shallow grave in Rocky Hill near the sand pits off Old Forge Road, Rocky Hill police said.

The deteriorating remains were found partially buried in the area between an industrial park in Rocky Hill, the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell and remote areas used for walking and biking.

State police are trying to determine the identity of the person and will look into all missing persons cases.

An autopsy is planned to determine the manner of the person's death.

Rocky Hill police contacted the State's Attorney Office, who contacted State Police.

The Hartford Courant, citing a "source familiar with the investigation," reports that the body appears to be of a person of small stature and was found in a shallow grave.
