Woman Found Dead, Naked Under Tree Was a Fashion Designer: Report

Police are looking into whether drug use was a factor in her death.

The young woman found naked and dead under a tree in Stamford on Saturday afternoon was an aspiring fashion designer, police said.

Jasmine Brown, 21, moved to New York a year ago from New Orleans and was in Connecticut visiting a boyfriend, her family told the Stamford Advocate.

She attended the Art Institute of New York City and hoped to have a fashion line called "Jasmine Butterfly," the Advocate.

Her clothes were found about 25 feet above her in the tree, police said, and they believe she either fell or jumped to her death on Saturday afternoon.

Police told the newspaper they believe the woman was the same person that a priest reported seeing hugging and striking a statue earlier Saturday, several blocks away outside St. Benedict's Church.

Police are investigating whether drug use might have played a role in her death. Police are awaiting autopsy results.

Her family told the Advocate that Brown did not use drugs.

"We know she didn't do any drugs," said Willene Coleman, Brown's great aunt from Stone Mountain, Georgia told the Advocate. "We're worried that it might be some kind of date rape drug."
