Hartford police have identified the 25-year-old man shot to death in Hartford early Tuesday morning, marking the capital city's 13th homicide this year.
Officers on patrol discovered the body of Angel Feliciano, 25, with gunshot wounds, police said. He was lying partially on the sidewalk and partially in the street near the intersection of Lawrence and Grand streets at 1:30 a.m.
An ambulance was called, but EMTs pronounced the man dead at the scene at 1:43 a.m.
Police said the gunman may have chased after Feliciano because they found a track of shell casings near the scene.
"Don't know who did this to him but may God forgive him," his aunt, Carmen Feliciano said. "That's all I can say. May God forgive him."
No one called 911, but witnesses told them they heard gunshots, according to police.
"We'd love them to call right away. Right away. Who knows if it would have played a role in this situation," Hartford Deputy Chief Brian Foley said. "You never know but certainly we would like if people hear something, please call us."

ShotSpotter, the city's system to detect gunfire, didn't alert police to the gunshots.
"I don't know if it was weather related but certainly something we would look into," Foley said.
Hartford police have not released details of a possible motive, but said there's no indication it was drug- or gang-related. It's not clear how long Feliciano was down in the street before being discovered.
The family is grieving as police investigate the homicide.
"I'm devastated. It's hard for family members because you never think that it's this close," Carmen Feliciano said.
Family and community members gathered near the site where someone gunned Angel down.
"I'm just sad for him. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time," Carmen Feliciano said. "He was young but he wasn't a bad kid, just couldn't get himself together."
Detectives from the major crimes division are investigating.
Police haven't arrested anyone at this time, but they said that the homicide isn't connected to any other recent shootings in the city.
