Two firefighters were injured this morning while responding to a two-alarm structure fire at 496 Edgewood Street in Hartford early this morning and two families have been displaced.
Two firefighters were taken to the hospital.
“While the firefighters were fighting the fire, some debris was falling down. One of the firefighters suffered minor head injuries,” Captain James McLoughlin, of the Hartford Fire Department, said.
The other suffered an arm injury.
Flames were coming out of the roof of the three-story home in the North End of the city when an NBC Connecticut crew arrived, but flames are no longer visible.
The fire appears to be out, but the fire department remains at the scene.
Surrounding streets are closed as emergency crews respond.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
