2 Employees Hurt in Printing Company Fire

Two people were hurt on Tuesday morning during a flash fire at a printing company in West Haven.

The employees, ages 37 and 64, were using a “flammable solvent” to clean a paper-folding machine at the GHP building on Heffernan Drive on Tuesday morning when a chemical ignited, according to the New Haven Register.

Two workers sustained first- and second-degree burns and were treated by paramedics and taken by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital.

Company employees were able to use handheld fire extinguishers to put out the fire before the fire department arrived.

The official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
