Two state swimming areas will be closed on the July 4 holiday.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has closed the swim area at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth because bacteria levels exceed state standards.
It will be closed for the holiday on Wednesday and retested.
All other inland designated state park swim areas are open and will be open for the holiday and the weekend.
While there is no swimming at Chatfield Hollow until test results show the water is safe, it is still open for picnicking, hiking and other activities.
Green Falls Pond in Pachaug State Forest remains closed because of low water level due to dam maintenance.
Rocky Neck, Hammonasset, Silver Sands and Sherwood island were sampled on Monday and are open.
