20-Year-Old Driver Dies in Windham Crash

A 20-year-old Windham woman died in rollover crash on Boston Post Road (Route 6) near the Windham Airport, police said. 

Emily Joy Marrotte, 20, of Windham, was driving her 1998 Toyota Avalon X on Route 6 when she lost control of her car while negotiating a curve and veered onto the shoulder, down and embankment and through the Windham Airport fence, police said.

The car flipped over, throwing Marrotte from the car. She died on scene of her injuries.

Windham Ambulance transported her passenger, Lydia Jane Pepin, 21, of Mansfield, to Windham Hospital. A LifeStar helicopter then airlifted her to Hartford Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is unknown and remains under investigation.
