Thousands packed the Hartford’s XL Center Sunday afternoon, for NBC Connecticut’s “Get on the Ice” event.

“I’m excited to get on the ice, and see what happens,” said Jason Hodge, of Hartford.
The free event was supported by NBC Connecticut, Global Spectrum, Comcast and Comcast Spotlight. Guests enjoyed access to the ice skating rink while watching the Olympic games on the jumbotron.

For some people, the event was about family fun; for others, it was about enjoying a nice winter activity while staying indoors.

“It’s nice to be warm and dry. After last year and this year, it’s nice to be indoors once in a while. And have some fun on the ice,” added Hodge.

The event went on through 7p.m.
