Manchester police arrested three people early Thursday morning who are accused of trying to break into a car.
Police responded to Ridge and Arch streets at 1:30 a.m. Thursday after a resident who was sitting on a porch called police after hearing a car alarm go off and seeing three people walking away from the vehicle.
The witnesses started to follow the three people until the suspects turned around to confront the complainants, police said. That’s when the witnesses went home and waited for police, police said.
When police officers arrived, the suspects ran in different directions, but police were able to apprehend Dwight Henry, 18, of Hartford; Luis Miguel Rivera, 24, of Hartford; and a 16-year-old Manchester boy.
All three were charged with first-degree criminal trespass, breach of peace, interfering with police, criminal liability for the act of another and sixth-degree criminal attempt to commit larceny.
Rivera and Henry were held on a $25,000 surety bond and assigned a court date of Sept. 15.
The juvenile was issued a juvenile summons and released to his mother.

Police said there have been several thefts from unlocked cars in the area where the attempted break-in was reported.
