3 Shined Laser Into Drivers' Eyes: Cop

A 19-year-old Thompson man and two teens accused of shining a laser into drivers’ eyes were arrested early Monday morning.

Police went to Putnam Road near Fountain Street just after 1:30 a.m. to investigate a report of people running in the road and shining a high-powered green laser into oncoming drivers’ eyes.

When a Plainfield police officer arrived, several people ran in front of his cruiser and shined a green laser light directly into the windshield, police said.

Justin Roberts, 19, of North Grovesnordale and two juveniles were charged with breach of peace in the second degree and reckless endangerment in the second degree.

The two juveniles were released to the custody of their parents and have a court date in Willimantic Juvenile Court.

Roberts was released on a written promise to appear in Danielson Superior Court on Sept. 10.
