School Bus Batteries Stolen in New Haven

Someone stolen several school bus batteries in New Haven on Sunday evening and police are investigating.

Police responded to the First Student Bus Company yard at 170 Middletown Avenue around 9 p.m. on Sunday to investigate.

Police said that 20 school bus batteries were stolen.

Officials from New Haven schools said five batteries were taken and batteries are removed from buses when they are not use.

Police said the batteries cost about $200 each and are not as common as regular car batteries.

Detectives are trying to find surveillance video in the area that might have captured images of the thefts.
