5 Connecticut Towns Ranked Among Safest to Raise a Child

Safewise, a website that ranks home security systems, has ranked the 30 safest places to raise a child in the United States and five Connecticut towns made the list.

Greenwich came in third, Fairfield came in 12th, West Hartford came in 25th, Milford came in 28th and Wallingford came in 29th.

Two Indiana communities took the top two spots, Carmel and Fishers.

Safewise lauded Greenwich for low crime rates, a low sex offender population and stellar education.

Fairfield gets great reviews for the quality of public education, anti-bullying policies and the Infinite Campus portal.

West Hartford was recognized for the low crime rate, its community policing and Behind the Badge, a citizens’ police academy that brings residents and police together.

Wallingford also made the list for its low crime rate.

“There’s nothing to fear when you live in Wallingford CT. Well, except one thing: Wallingford has the state’s biggest “haunted” attractions,” the Safewise web site says -- - Trail of Terror.

Glastonbury received an honorable mention, coming in at 35 and Shelton is 42 among 50.
