A 5-year-old child was injured early Saturday morning during what police are calling a home invasion and assault in Plainfield.

According to police, officers were called to an apartment at 53 North Chestnut Street in Wauregan around 2:40 a.m. Saturday on the report of a noise complaint. Police said officers arrived to address the noise complaint. They left the scene but were then called back.

During the fight, two women fell onto a 5-year-old boy who was sleeping nearby. Police said the child was taken by ambulance to the Backus Hospital Emergency Room in Plainfield. He was treated and released to his parents.

Brown and Daignault were arrested at the scene. Brown was charged with home invasion, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and risk of injury to a minor. Daignault was charged with home invasion and disorderly conduct.

Both were held on $20,000 bonds and are due in court Nov. 4.
