State police stopped an SUV on Interstate 84 in Tolland just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday and found more than half-a-million dollars worth of cash.

According to a news release from state police, the trooper saw the headlights were not on and stopped the vehicle between exits 68-69.

Inside, police found 28 bags holding more than half a million dollars.

After making the stop, officials said they determined that Jovanny Rosario, 45, of New York, was a previously deported felon suspected of bulk cash smuggling.

Homeland Security Officials seized the money and a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero SUV and arrested Rosario.
