6-Year-Old Was a “Little Nervous” About Carnegie Hall Gig

Performing at Carnegie Hall would make most people pretty nervous, but not Clara Tu.

The 6-year-old piano prodigy from Southbury performed on the Today Show on Friday morning and told Matt Lauer that she was just a little nervous when she sat down at the piano at Carnegie Hall.

She has been playing piano for about two years under the guidance of her mother, Felicia Zhang, who herself is an accomplished pianist.

When Lauer asked Clara if the Carnegie Hall audience is the largest she’s every played for, the precocious pianist answered succinctly.

“I think,” she said.

While Clara plays classical music, she’s a fan of all kinds of music, including Miley Cyrus.

But, to appreciate Clara, you have to hear and watcher her play, which you can do above.

Clara has two more Carnegie Hall performances. One on May 1 and another on May 16.
